Sunglint on the Alabama Waterway

.Within this June 26, 2023, image taken from the International Space Station, sunlight polishes off the smooth waters of the Alabama Stream in a sensation called sunglint. When capturing on film Planet, rocketeers commonly take advantage of sunglint's inclination to increase the contrast in between water surfaces and also surrounding property areas. In the 1960s, the Alabama Waterway was actually slowed, developing Dannelly Reservoir (the big polishing place at center left). Building of the dam also increased water table upriver. This caused flooding at many points along the waterway. These flooded zones are actually traditional of flood plains-- the poor, flat regions right away next to much larger streams. Within this photo, disaster area appear as rough, bright shapes prolonging off of the stream, like at Gee's Bend (center bottom).Text Credit Report: Justin Wilkinson.Graphic Credit Score: NASA/Woody Hoburg.
